Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026-2027
The University of Colorado School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry announces the availability of 2-3 psychology postdoctoral fellowship positions for the 2026-2027 training year. The Harris Program provides clinical training, consultation, advocacy, and research opportunities in perinatal, infant, and early childhood mental health. Clinical training/sites emphasize integrated behavioral health with young children and their families. The Harris Program is committed to using a diversity, equity, and inclusion-informed perspective in both training and service delivery. As a Harris Professional Development Network site, we strive to uphold the principles outlined in the Diversity-Informed Tenets for Work with Infants, Children and Families.
TRAINING APPROACH
Our fellowship program is based on the strong belief that there is an important role for highly trained early childhood mental health specialists to provide services to programs that serve infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and their families in pregnancy and throughout early childhood. After completing the fellowship, participants typically pursue careers in clinical, academic, community, and training settings and engage in activities including direct service, teaching, supervision, consultation, program development/administration, and clinical research.
The program uses a relationship-based and family-strengths perspective for understanding the difficulties, challenges, and disorders that affect young children and their families. Fellows provide a variety of early childhood services, including weekly individual, group, and/or parent- child dyadic therapy, developing treatment plans, consultation with parents and families about behavioral interventions, and parent education. The program has a specific focus on integrated behavioral health services in health care and community settings through consultation with primary care, pediatric, allied health, and public health professionals related to behavior management, pregnancy related mood and anxiety disorders, and developmental interventions.
Fellowship training includes:
1) intensive clinical experiences with pregnant women, infants, young children, and their families;
2) weekly day-long didactic seminars on core issues of early childhood mental health; and
3) reflective supervision in groups and individually. Clinical sites include behavioral health integration in primary and specialty care clinics, community mental health, and community settings where under-served populations of babies, young children, and their families are seen. Populations include a high proportion of Spanish speaking families.
PhD/PsyD in clinical, school or counseling psychology and APA-accredited internship required (degree must be conferred by 08/31/2026). Demonstrated interest/experience with infants/young children and in pediatric health care settings preferred. Candidates of color and bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. At least one fellowship position will require fluency in Spanish as a minimum condition of employment. Bilingual fellows who obtain the qualified bilingual staff (QBS) certification within the first quarter of their fellowship training year may be eligible for additional compensation.
